Inspired by the human family, jessaii’s music nourishes and nurtures the hearts of her audience, fulfilling a deeper calling back to love. Music IS love! Catchy melodies, insightful lyrics and the invitation always to move and feel.
Her music and lyrics channel messages about the lessons and the blessings - resilience, facing adversity, rising through challenges, building community and unity.
jessaii has had her fair share of life experiences. From becoming a parent, to falling in love + heartbreak, navigating life pressures + stresses and just figuring out how to be a human being in this world, she has plenty to write about. In 2011 she became a mother and only months later, she faced the tragic loss of her producer and dear friend, Randy Ponzio - as did her entire music community and beyond. Only a short number of years later she endured a divorce. She stepped back from music, making only a few appearances here and there and it wasn’t until the 2020 pandemic that she truly started to find her way back to music - her passion; her soul’s calling!
She has always held a knowing that her purpose in music is much bigger than herself - her gift is to remind people of what they already know... or may have forgotten. Audience members often comment that her lyrics came at just the right time; that they are exactly what they needed to hear in that moment. jessaii just goes with what comes through and trusts the medicine of the music.
To support this calling to create art, jessaii continues to offer private voice coaching sessions + is a fine arts teacher with a school district in the Lower Mainland of BC. She has also offered workshops + summer camps, touring the province of Saskatchewan, the Yukon and many organizations in the Vancouver area including UBC, Arts Umbrella, Sarah McLachlan School of Music + her own organization, Light The Stage Community Arts + Education. She finds it incredibly rewarding to pass on her skills + knowledge to young artists who thrive from mentorship + training...these are our furture creators!
Highlight performances as a solo or backing artist include the 2018 Juno Awards(Daniel Caesar), Soul Sistahs (opening act) Ne-Yo, performance while in Toronto for Canadian Music Week featuring Trent Reschny (Jully Black) and Mark Pellitzer (Jason Mraz), 2010 Winter Olympics, Buckman Coe, The Big Sound Vancouver, American Blues Hall of Fame Inductee Dalannah Gail Bowen and Climbing PoeTree (Brooklyn, NY), 2021 Sound On feat.
